Outline of OECC

1)Name:

Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan(OECC)

2)Date of establishment:

OECC was established on March 29, 1990 and is a public corporation under the supervision of Environmental Cooperation Office of Ministry of the Environment (formerly Environment Agency, Japan)

3)Objectives:

The Objective of OECC is to promote global environment conservation. Recognizing unprecedented international interdependence, OECC will encourage environmental conservation through cooperative activities, researches, public relations, etc. on overseas environmental issues.

4)Activities:

Basic survey and strategic studies concerning environmental conservation overseas

Research, technology development concerning the environmental conservation overseas, and dissemination of the results of them;

Cooperation for overseas environmental conservation activities, such as those for human resource development, conducted by the state and other agencies;

Organization of, and participation in, symposia and international conferences concerning the environmental conservation overseas;

Supporting the environmental protection avtivities overseas;
