Diffusion of Low Carbon Technology through the JCM Project Development
The OECC has implemented the diffusion of leading low carbon technologies through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), which contributes to taking low carbon development pathways in developing countries. The Government of Japan has established the JCM with 16 partner countries in Asia, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa.
As part of the Japanese Government programme, , the OECC has supported project development in countries such as Viet Nam, Mongolia, Cambodia, Lad PDR, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Chile.
The OECC has been successful in materializing mitigation actions for MOEJ’s model project with financial support, and the following projects were selected by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ).

Information Platform on the JCM
The OECC has been disseminating the basic concept and updates of the JCM through the website New Mechanisms Information Platform, which is funded by the MOEJ The Platform also operates helpdesk to respond to inquiries from business entities.
The OECC has participated in climate change conferences such as UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Asia Pacific Carbon Forum. In such conferences the OECC has co-organized side events with MOEJ, GEC and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), inviting JCM partner countries such as Indonesia, Viet Nam, Palau, and Thailand, to introduce information on the achievements and progress of the JCM.
