In local governments, efforts to strengthen GHG are in progress. These are driven both by requirements from their national governments, with a view to track mitigation actions for domestic implementation of the Paris Agreement, as well as international initiatives for cities such as C40 and its recommended transparency framework, like the City Inventory Reporting and Information System (CIRIS) using GHG Protocol for Cities (GPC).
The Side Event will introduce updates in Southeast Asian cities, such as Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, in strengthening their efforts to regularly develop GHG inventory, while there are some gaps and challenges, emanating from different protocols to be applied.
To be moderated by Ms. Yui Matsuo, JICA SPI-NAMA
